What is issue with the app TikTok?

With 1.5B users, TikTok epitomises the rise of Chinese social media. Many are concerned that it's Chinese-owned. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. But what does concern me is that something as brain-dead as TikTok is as popular as it is.???
