Oppo A72 Launched with Snapdragon 665, 48MP Quad Camera Setup and a 5,000mAh battery

The slew of new Oppo releases doesn’t seem to be concluding, since the Chinese OEM introduced the brand-new Oppo A72 yesterday, following the Oppo A12, A92s, Find X2 Lite and Neo, and A52. The Oppo A72 shares its design language with the Oppo A52, and both models are soon headed for Germany at affordable Oppo prices. At a glance, you might not be able to tell the duo apart. You’re looking at an almost identical punch-hole, down to the L-style quad-camera layout and the side-mounted thumbprint reader. The front panel is carried over from A52 as well — that is, it measures 6.5 inches and delivers an FHD+ resolution.

The rear-shell of Oppo A72 has a glossy finish in sea-green and purple-to-blue gradients. A handful of light streaks sprout from the camera housing, rounding off the polished design.

The internals tell the same story. You get a Snapdragon 665 platform (that’s carried over from A52), paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage — expandable with a microSD card. The hardware is hooked up to a 5,000 mAh battery (just like the Oppo A52), with 18W fast charging. It runs on an Android-10-based ColorOS 7.1.

The quad-camera that sits on the back panel, is perhaps the only stark difference between the two models. A primary 48MP main lens is combined with an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The main camera has a large f/1.8 aperture, but the remaining two cameras are f/2.4 which is fairly underwhelming. For capturing selfies, the punch-hole houses a 16MP shooter.
